Mangosteen

We source our Mangosteen from Thailand. It is a tropical fruit known as the "Queen of the tropical fruits", believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas of Indonesia. Both the rind and fruit are edible. The fleshy fruit is sweet and tangy. Extract of the fleshy fruit and the pericarp purée (the husk and skin of the fruit) are added to our delicious drink.

Ripe Mangosteen fruit puree gives SlimDiva™ my diet water drink™ its distinct, delicious flavour and has a long history of use as a medical plant, mostly in Southeast Asia. Traditionally mangosteen is famous for its anti-inflammatory properties and is used in the treatment of skin infections and wounds. Other applications include the therapy of various conditions such as dysentery, different urinary disorders, cystitis and gonorrhoea. This review highlights the development of this botanical drug into a widely used nutraceutical. Products derived from Garcinia mangostana are now distributed increasingly all over the world. This has given rise to a concomitant increase in research on the phytochemical constituents and biological activity of mangosteen. Central to the biological activity of the species are xanthones.
